Notebook Screen Resolution

Notebook Screen Resolutions and Available Resolutions

The resolution of an LCD display refers to the number of pixels within the display. Resolution is expressed in rows in columns. For example if a screen is 768 pixels high and 1024 pixels long, the resolution would be shown as 786x1024, or an XGA screen. The table below shows a number of common resolutions for laptop LCD displays.

The following table shows the LCD screen resolutions available in laptops and tablet PCs.

Resolution Pixels Aspect Ratio Type of Ratio

WUXGA 1920 x 1200 1.60x Wide

This table also shows aspect ratio. One can get the aspect ration of a screen by dividing the screen’s height by the width. Aspect ratio is typically expressed with like most ratios. For example most traditional televisions have a 4:3 aspect ratio.

Not all laptop LCD screens have the same resolution. It varies from screen-to-screen. The resolution required for certain displays often depends on the size and viewing angles.
