To optimize your web page, it
is important to know which keyword phrases
customers are searching by. There are various
ways of researching this. The most effective
way to research the popular search phrases
is to use a keyword database. A keyword databases
reports the number of searches for a particular
keyword or keyword phrase for a particular
time period over multiple search engines.
WordTracker (www.wordtracker.com)
is a widely-used keyword database and is an
important tool in search engine optimization
(SEO). In fact, it should be the first step
in SEO. Search engines, like AltaVista and
Netscape, also offer some insight into popular
search phrases. These search engines offer
“related search” listings that
display what phrases their users search by.
If your web page has a site search engine,
use that as a means of research as well. If
you don’t have a search option on your
web page, it would be to your advantage to
obtain one. Once you have analyzed your findings,
use it to better choose your keywords within
your web page.
