3: Inverter

The next step is to unplug and detach the inverter board. The inverter is a pencil-sized green circuit board; it provides power to the LCD backlight so that you may see the image on the screen.

To start, you'll likely need to peel back some green tape affixing the inverter and its cabling to the LCD itself. Next, simply unplug the cable running from the LCD device into the inverter -- typically this inverter cable is made up of pink and white wires, with a white or off-white plug connecting it to the inverter.

Note: There is another cable connecting the inverter to the laptop below. There may be green tape attaching this cable to the LCD, which must also be peeled back.
