The inverter board is a small device which provides the LCD screen with power. To begin, unscrew the inverter board frame from the LCD screen as shown in the first picture. Next, the inverter cable will need to be disconnected from the inverter by sliding it out (second picture). These pictures are more specific to Dell laptops, as they are the ones which tend to have the inverter attached to the LCD when one removes the LCD from the machine.
