7: Inverter Cable

Two wires connect the corner of the LCD device to a small board, about the size of a pencil. These wires are the inverter cable or inverter cord, and the small board, usually inside protective plastic film, is called the inverter. The inverter supplies power to the backlight of the LCD. Unplug the inverter cable by pulling the white plug out of the end of the board.

Note the side edges of the metal tray. These are what must be fitted between the LCD and the laptop frame hardware when the new screen is installed.
