Growth In Revenue For Many Laptop Makers
Quanta, Wistron, and Compal Electronics saw a growth in their revenue in June of 2006. With a CPU price cut many makers saw a higher increase in demand. And as a result, Compal was able to finally break the one million mark in shipments in one month Digitimes.com reported.
Digitimes.com said that in the first six months Quanta amassed net sales worth $206 billion, which is 41.2% of its full year revenue projection. In June however, because of the high demand it rose to 47.5% sequentially and the overall sales worth for that month was $38.7 billion, Digitimes.com reported.
The report also states that Inventec increased its revenue by 27% in the month of June. Market sources state that Inventec notebook shipments will also grow to about six million units in 2006. This is a result of Inventec overtaking Compal to get the larger shipment contracts from Toshiba.
Inventec was also signed by Acer notebook as one of Acer's suppliers. According to sources, Inventec will begin fulfilling notebook orders for Fujitsu, and will be expected to ship around eight million notebooks in 2007 to Fujitsu.
Reports estimate that Winstron's monthly shipments will be around 700,000 in June. And will be higher than the 600,000 shipments that took place in the May.
Merril Lynch, an investment firm, estimates that Quanta is expected to ship 1.55 million notebooks in June. While Inventec may ship around 460,000 notebooks thanks to the increase in market share of major customer Hewlett Packard. In the third quarter of 2006, Merril Lynch also predicts a 20 to 30 percent increase in shipments for Quanta, Compal and Wistron.
