AU Optronics On The Rise
AUO To Fullfill Orders For Sony, Samsung & Others
Market sources say that AU Optronics (AUO) will see an increase in LCD TV shipments in the third quarter. This will start when AU Optronics starts to fulfill contract orders for Sony, Samsung Electronics and Sharp. AUO has already started to send shipments to Sony and later will do the same for Samsung Electronics and Sharp. Sources said that in August AU Optronics shipped 32 inch panels to Sony.
According to AUO, their revenue fell 9.6% percent sequentially in June. AUO shipments of large-size panels also fell 4.4% on the month. AUO states that this was a result of the decrease of the European TV market.
AUO, however, said that the demand of large-size panels will instead grow in the third quarter and also during the Christmas season.
On the contrary to AUO decrease in sales, Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) was the only Tawain maker to increase its sales in June. Its sequential growth from month-to-month was reported to be about 0.42% this month by Chi Mei Optoelectronics. Chei Mei Optoelectronics strategic quote reduction for 27 inch and 32 inch panels helped its shipments grow 9.2% sequentially in June, according to sources at the panel maker.
In the graph below you can actually see the decrease in large size shipments for AUO between the month of May and June. And for CMO there was an increase in large size shipments between the month of May and June. Other companies such as CPT had a decrease in large size shipments between the month of May and June.
