Toshiba’s dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR Image Source
News has been published on Toshiba’s dynabook Qosmio T851/D8CR, a laptop that allows users to view 2D and 3D content on the same screen AND without those annoying glasses no one really likes wearing.
Glasses-free 3D images are created using parallax, delivering separate images to the left and right eyes. Toshiba’s unique “face-tracking” utility lets the web camera on the laptop track a user’s face and recognize the position of the eye and “Active Lens” in the LED panel controls the polarization of light delivered to the panel. These functions are made possible with a SpursEngine image processor that converts images from 2D to 3D in real time.
Other specs on the laptop include Windows 7, a second-generation Core i5-2410M processor, Nvidia GeForce GT540M, blu-ray player, a 750GB hard drive, harman/kardon speakers and can accommodate up to 8GB of RAM.
If you read our post from yesterday about
multi-tasking, this laptop definitely allows you to multi-task. Users will be able to watch 3D movies from anywhere while simultaneously browsing the web and documents.
This is the world’s first glasses-free 3D laptop and comes with a 3D price tag as well, rumored to cost around $2780.. The Toshiba Qosmio T851/D8CR will begin shipping in Japan toward the end of July. No release date for the US is currently available.
