The Dell XPS17

With the latest 3D compatible laptops making their debut, Dells’ XPS 17 ranks at the top of the list. Boasting 4 out of 5 stars, the XPS 17 is for those who want a laptop that commands media and gaming- and is really cool to show off. The XPS comes standard with leading-edge NVIDIA performance graphics. This allows powerful photo and video editing and high-resolution gaming in detail. The advances of NVIDIA technology allow better use of battery life while maintaining overall performance regardless if you’re watching an HD movie or playing a 3D game. Complete with state of the art JBL speakers and Waves MaxxAudio3 technology, the XPS 17 generates wow-worthy sound from a laptop. The XPS 17 laptop has what it takes to raise you to new levels of performance. With Skype and an HD webcam preinstalled, connecting with friends and family (near or far) is simple. Harnessing the XPS’ 3D capabilities isn’t as tricky as it may sound. Just enable the NVIDIA 3D components – all you need is an HDMI cable, Blu-Ray disc drive, 3D-enabled TV with supporting 3D media and you’re ready watch the 3D magic happen. With an asking price right at $1,099 and a 17” screen, the XPS 17 isn’t the most practical of laptops- but it’s definitely entertaining!

In only 25 years technology has grown from the 1986 PC Convertible to the 2011 Dell XPS 14Z. Consider this, the PC Convertible weighed over 12 pounds and was only slightly smaller than a suitcase. Not exactly our idea of “portable”.  The Convertible wasn’t too stylish, either. Fast forward 25 years and you find the newly released Dell XPS 14Z.

Weighing in at 4 pounds portability is no longer an issue. The screen measures 23 millimeters thick, just under an inch and is built with an aluminum case resembling Apple’s MacBook Pro line. Sporting a 14” screen and a battery life up to 7 hours, the XPS 14Z has more than enough swagger to hold ones attention.
